The pituitary gland is a small endocrine organ at the base of the brain, connected to the hypothalamus by the pituitary stalk. Often called the 'master gland', it is divided into the anterior pituitary (producing GH, ACTH, TSH, FSH, LH, and prolactin) and posterior pituitary. The pituitary is the primary target of growth hormone secretagogue peptides: CJC-1295 stimulates GH release by activating GHRH receptors on pituitary somatotroph cells, while Ipamorelin activates GHS-R1a receptors on the same cells. These provide complementary stimulation through distinct intracellular signalling pathways.
